Indian Destination Wedding on a Carnival Cruise Ship

Just when, as a photographer, you think things can't get any more exciting, they do, and at that, too, on a carnival cruise ship! It was at this Big Fat Indian wedding with the Patel family that they booked a Carnival cruise ship and set off on their way to Jamaica with family and friends. There are many logistics to consider, most of which you don't realize until you have done it, as many do not typically book a cruise ship bound for Jamaica for their wedding.

As a photographer, many challenges aren't taken into account until the wheels are in motion, to name a few:

1. Number one, all furniture on ships is stationary, so there is no moving anything out of your way. It would be best if you worked around or on everything :-)
2. Number two, shooting outside the deck side, you must compete with the wind, and most clients are not going to want to subject their hair to solid winds, so inside it is with minimal, beautiful window light; hiring a photographer knowledgeable of our camera lighting will be essential to having great photos aboard a cruise ship.
3. Number three, be prepared to have your temperature taken when coming aboard. Ships will not permit sick shipmates, as it is bad for business. The slightest ear infection can cause an elevation, so a Motrin or two for good measure may be a consideration.
